About the event
Quilombos were initially formed by Black people to escape and resist enslavement. Today, quilombos exist in various forms and serve as a space where traditional knowledge, carried by Black Brazillians’ ancestors, survives and is passed down from generation to generation.
Aquilombado is a solo photo exhibition paired with a short dance performance, that honors several quilombos in Bahia, Brazil.
